We get it: Visiting a new church can be ... weird. Here's the good news: Every single one of us who's here waiting for you has been there too. So we understand how important expectation management can be. Here's a little about what you can expect:
Start at the Welcome Center, immediately inside the main south doors. There, you can meet a new friend, ask questions, and get help checking-in your kiddos or learning more about us.
Our cafe is on the north side of our lobby, where you'll find free coffee, donuts, and cocoa. Our newly refurbished cry room is right across from the cafe where moms can still watch service in privacy and comfort with their littles.
We have two identical worship services on Sunday mornings at 9am and again at 10:45am. We usually begin with two opening worship songs, followed by announcements and prayer. Then, the Word is faithfully preached for about 40 minutes (longer if Chris is feeling it ... or just can't help himself). We then enter into a solemn time of responsive worship, usually lasting 3 more songs. During this time, we encourage all to respond in worship as they feel led, and there are stations around the room where you can light a candle symbolizing a prayer, nail a confession or struggle to a cross, or pray with a pastor.
"And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent." [Colossians 1:18]
The Church is the supernatural Body of Christ on earth, a community created by and centered around His Gospel.
At Ridgeline, we do not belong to believe, but we do believe that proper believing should lead to committed belonging.
At Ridgeline, we affirm what we clearly see in scripture, especially in the New Testament: God did not save souls for them to just go home and privately and independently claim some generic belief in Him, but rather, we see the first converts to the faith forming into new communities "devoting themselves to the apostles teaching and fellowship" [Acts 2:42,47], submitting to Godly authority appointed over them [Acts 14:23], submitting to the accountability of sound doctrine [Titus 1:9, 1 John 4:1, Romans 16:17], and not neglecting to meet together [Hebrews 10:24-25].
And the purpose of all this is simple:
Exalting God,
Equipping Christians,
Evangelizing the lost
We strive to faithfully follow this model, and glorify God in all we do as we gather together weekly to know Jesus and make Him known.
"Theology is the application of Scripture,
by persons, to every area of life." - John Frame
"The Kingdom must be advanced not merely extensively, but also intensively.
The Church must seek to conquer not merely every man for Christ, but also the whole of man." [Greg Bahnsen]
"And he said to them, “Go into all the world and
proclaim the gospel to the whole creation."
[Mark 16:15]
"Preach the word; be ready in season and
out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort,
with complete patience and teaching."
[2 Timothy 4:2]
At Ridgeline, we believe that much of the cultural rot we see around us today is due to watered-down, weakened pulpits. For far too long now, American churches haven't preached; they've settled for shallow religious TedTalks, more concerned with flimsy self-helpism than proclaiming the whole counsel of God [Acts 20:27] and the wondrous, holiness of the God it proclaims.
And we think this is a big reason why our world is the way it is.
That's why at Ridgeline, you and your family will hear the powerful truth of God's Word every Sunday, proclaimed clearly and boldly through every verse and over every topic. We will exhort, rebuke, instruct, and encourage with a prophetic voice that fears God more than the misperceptions of an unbelieving world.
"Therefore faithful Christian, seek the truth, listen to the truth,
learn the truth, love the truth, speak the truth, adhere to truth
and defend truth to the death." - Jan Hus
"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!"
[Psalm 150:6]
"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God,
to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and
acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship"
[Romans 12:1]
Scripture is clear: God is worthy of all praise, not because of the stuff we hope He gives us or the things we hope He'll do for us, but because of Who He is.
Therefore, we strive to facilitate a worship experience that exalts Him and Him alone on high, through faithful diligence and excellence; not to perform for each other, but to honor Him and point each other to His singular throne of majesty and grace.
Every week, we feature songs that align with the focus of the sermon and themes of scripture, trying our best to fuse time-honored classics like Psalms and hymns with more contemporary praise songs known to modern audiences. We sing, we praise, we pray, and we offer stations like a prayer cross and candles to respond however the Spirit leads.
"Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
and his greatness is unsearchable."
[Psalm 145:3]
